Course information
The Summer High School program is designed for secondary school students. Particular attention will be given to spoken usage of the targeted language. A communicative teaching approach will be utilised by tutors which also includes some cultural content. The teaching and learning focus is on skill acquisition for practical application in real situations with native speakers. The course content is largely coordinated with the curriculum requirements in Queensland Schools.
Recreation facilities and shops
Sporting facilities of the University's Sports Union are within 100m of the IML building. More information is available at http://www.uqsport.uq.edu.au/. The University swimming pool, tennis and squash courts are open daily from 6am. Shops, banks, a cinema and a post office are on campus. The St Lucia Village (shopping centre) is in walking distance from campus.
Parking facilities
IML students wishing to park on campus must pay to park. Parking areas available include: Multi-storey carparks on Sir Fred Schonell Drive and Park and Pay zones along river and beside swimming pool or students may instead use the parking meters at designated areas.
Cancellations
If the Institute cancels a course due to insufficient enrolments then a full refund will be sent to students.
Cancellation by a student prior to commencement of classes attracts an administration fee - $30.
All cancellations by students must be made in writing.
